About Paul Idol, the Screenplay Scientist

Paul Idol, Screenplay ScientistBesides providing screenplay analysis and writing instruction, Paul Idol has worked in television, written a number of spec screenplays of his own, directed many shorts and video and documentary projects, won several directing and screenwriting awards, and is currently raising financing for his first theatrical feature.

He studied electrical engineering at the Albert Nerken School of Engineering at The Cooper Union, which is ranked among the top three undergraduate engineering schools in the nation, and screenwriting and film production at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, which is similarly considered one of the top three film programs in the country. The melding of those two very different disciplines helped him develop an exceptional degree of analytical rigor to match his understanding of the arts and mastery of the creative process. Paul is also a member of Ken Rotcop's writers' workshop and has attended Ken's PitchMart™ on a number of occasions, and he has studied screenwriting with William C. Martell.

Paul got into screenplay analysis and consultation on a private, referral-only basis almost by accident by offering his advice to writers, producers and directors he met both socially and professionally. They were so impressed with the insightfulness of his analysis and the clarity and value of his recommendations that they began hiring him to help with other projects and started referring him to their colleagues. He found the work both enjoyable and educational, and now he's offering his services to the wider public.

Though he presently lives in New York City and travels regularly to Los Angeles, his clients live all over the world, and he can help you regardless of your location. He looks forward to reading your work and helping you make it as good as it can possibly be!
